Don Revis, MD, FACS

The Internal Bra® Magazine is a patient-driven digital publication created to give real people a place to share their stories—in their own words—about confidence, wellness, and modern breast augmentation. This is where the story behind the decision lives. Every feature you read here is someone choosing to speak openly about a deeply personal chapter of their life—what led them here, how the experience has shaped them, and what they’re stepping into next. These stories matter because they create space for honesty, understanding, and connection in a conversation that’s often kept quiet. If this story resonated with you, one of the most meaningful ways to support the person who shared it is to share this article with your friends, family, or social network. When these stories travel, they help normalize real conversations around body autonomy, confidence, and personal choice. Thanks for reading—and for helping these stories reach the people who might need to hear them.

Thank you for taking the time to sit with us today. Before we share your update or milestone, could you walk us through a little of your personal story and what has brought you to this moment in your life?
My story really started with a decision to take my life back. Over the past few years I’ve lost 90 pounds, and that journey changed everything for me. It wasn’t just about weight loss. It was about discipline, self-respect, and proving to myself that I was capable of becoming the strongest version of me.

Through lifting, fitness, and a lot of personal growth, I rebuilt my confidence from the inside out. But after losing that much weight, my body changed in ways that didn’t always reflect how strong and proud I felt.

At a certain point I realized it was time to complete the transformation. My previous breast implants no longer fit my body the way they once did, and having them redone felt like the final step in honoring the work I had put into myself.

This moment isn’t just cosmetic for me. It represents closing a chapter and stepping fully into the woman I worked so hard to become.
Looking back, what were some of the thoughts, feelings, or experiences that helped you feel ready to move forward with surgery? How has that choice shown up in your day-to-day life since?
Looking back, I think the biggest thing was realizing how far I had come. Losing 90 pounds took years of discipline, consistency, and a lot of mental growth. I had completely changed my lifestyle through lifting, fitness, and learning to take care of my body. At some point I looked at myself and thought, I’ve done the hard part. I’ve earned this.

After that much weight loss, my body had changed a lot and my previous implants just didn’t match my frame anymore. I didn’t see the surgery as changing who I was, but more as aligning my body with the strength and confidence I had built through the journey.

Since making that choice, it’s shown up in my life in a really positive way. I feel more balanced, more comfortable in my body, and more confident in the work I’ve put into myself. It feels like the final piece of a transformation that started years ago when I decided to take control of my health and my life.
As time has passed, what unexpected ways has this experience continued to shape how you feel about yourself or your life overall?
It’s shifted the way I see myself. I used to focus on what I wanted to change, but now I focus more on what my body is capable of and the work it took to get here. There’s a sense of pride that comes with knowing I committed to improving my health and followed through.

It’s also reinforced that taking care of yourself isn’t selfish. It’s an investment in your confidence, your well-being, and the life you want to live. This experience became more than just a physical change. It became a reminder that growth is a process, and sometimes honoring your journey means allowing yourself to complete it in a way that feels right for you.
Body and mental wellbeing are so closely connected. How has this journey influenced the way you care for yourself, both physically and emotionally?
This journey showed me how closely mental and physical health are connected. Losing 90 pounds took discipline and consistency, but it also built confidence and self-trust.

I started prioritizing my health through lifting, staying active, and really listening to my body. The surgery was another step in honoring all the work I had already put in.

Now caring for myself is about more than appearance. It’s about feeling strong, confident, and proud of the body and life I’ve built.

If you could share one honest truth about this journey that you wish more people talked about, what would that be?
One thing I wish more people talked about is how important it is to prioritize yourself without guilt. Taking care of your happiness, your confidence, and your wellbeing isn’t selfish, it’s necessary.

For me, losing 90 pounds took years of hard work, dedication, and commitment to my health. Choosing to have plastic surgery wasn’t about changing who I was, it was about honoring that work and the self-love that came with it.

Plastic surgery can be an amazing tool. When it’s done for the right reasons, it helps you feel aligned with the effort you’ve put into your body and allows you to confidently show off the results of that dedication. At the end of the day, it’s about doing what makes you happy and feeling proud of the life and body you’ve built.
How have your friends, family, or loved ones responded as your journey has evolved? Are there any reactions or conversations that stand out to you?
My friends and family have been incredibly supportive throughout the whole journey. They saw the discipline and dedication it took for me to lose 90 pounds, so when I decided to take the next step and have surgery, they understood it was about completing something I had worked so hard for.

A lot of the conversations were really encouraging. The people closest to me kept reminding me how proud they were of the work I’d put in and how much my confidence had grown. What stands out most is that they didn’t just notice the physical changes. They noticed how much happier, stronger, and more confident I had become overall.

That support made the experience even more meaningful because it reminded me that this journey wasn’t just about how I look. It was about becoming the best version of myself.
Looking ahead, what does the future feel like for you now compared to before you began this journey?
The future feels much more empowering and exciting than it did before I started this journey. Losing 90 pounds taught me how capable I am when I commit to myself.

Now I move through life with more confidence and self-trust, and the surgery felt like the final step in honoring all the hard work I’ve put into my health and wellbeing.
Well, it’s been a pleasure sitting down with you today. To close things out, what are a few things you wish you had known earlier, what myths would you want to challenge, and how can people show support for someone navigating a similar experience?
One thing I wish I had known earlier is that transformation takes patience, and it’s okay to take steps along the way to feel aligned with the work you’ve put in. Losing 90 pounds required dedication, and choosing surgery was simply another way of honoring that effort.
A myth I’d challenge is the idea that prioritizing yourself or choosing plastic surgery is superficial. For many people, it’s actually about confidence, self-care, and celebrating the discipline it took to change your life.

The best way to support someone going through a similar journey is to be encouraging and open-minded. Everyone’s path is different, and sometimes the most meaningful support is simply respecting their choices and celebrating the progress they’ve worked so hard for.
